Troubleshooting
Fix common calculator, project, and preview issues.
The SVG preview is missing
Check the highlighted inputs in the calculator first. The preview needs valid waist, length, allowance, and fabric width values. The input guide explains what each field controls.
If the issue appears after switching units, review the converted values and update any field that became too small, too large, or empty.
Project saving fails
Confirm you are signed in with a free account. Calculation and HTML preview do not need an account, but project saving does. Check the required measurements and try saving again.
Full PDF generation is unavailable
Save the draft and open its project page. Save any later edits before choosing Download full-scale pattern, selecting paper size and language, and choosing Generate PDF. The full A4 or US Letter PDF is free for saved projects; the HTML preview and a browser-saved PDF of it are summaries, not actual-size pattern tiles. See the PDF workflow.
The preview window is empty
Generate the preview only after the calculator shows a valid draft. If a new window opens without data, return to the calculator and fix any highlighted input.
Also check popup blocker settings for the site.
The layout does not fit the fabric
The estimate requires one 90-degree panel's reserved square to fit the usable width. A manual-layout result has no automatic length; it is not zero fabric. Try a wider width or shorter finished length, or plan a different panel split manually. A different circle fraction also changes the waist radius, so compare its actual result rather than assuming a less full skirt will fit.
The Fabric Guide explains the reservation grid, and the panel-layout article helps plan a separate cutting arrangement.
The printed pattern is too small or too large
Print the downloaded full PDF at 100% / actual size, disable fit-to-page, and measure the test square before printing every tile. Check that the printer paper matches the A4 or US Letter choice in the generated file. Follow the calibration steps if the measured square is wrong.
If the square is correct but the arcs do not meet, use the tile-alignment instructions to check frame edges and page labels. For pages that look empty, consult the blank-page rules before skipping them. The printing checklist connects these checks before fabric cutting.
Before cutting fabric, add seam allowances to the waist curve and straight joining edges. The printed curves and edges are seam lines, except the outer hem edge, which already includes the hem allowance. Refer to the PDF line guide to avoid adding it twice.
The sewn hem drops or ripples
An uneven sewn hem can come from bias stretch, waist placement, or the chosen finish. Check the original measurements and waist position, then follow the bias-stretch and leveling guide before trimming. Do not reduce every pattern radius just because one section hangs lower.
For a rippled or twisted curved edge, compare the hemming methods and the hem allowance, then test the finish on a curved scrap. The calculator establishes geometry; fabric behavior and fit still need a physical check.
