Quickstart
Create your first circle skirt draft in a few steps.
1. Open the calculator
Open the circle skirt calculator. Calculation and the HTML summary preview are free and do not require an account.
2. Enter finished measurements
Choose inches or centimeters, then enter:
- Waist
- Waist ease
- Finished skirt length
- Fabric width
- Seam allowance
- Hem allowance
Keep finished measurements and construction allowances separate. The measurement guide helps distinguish the wearing waist from a pull-on skirt's hip-pass opening. Use the usable fabric width after excluding selvages, rather than the width on the bolt label.
3. Choose a skirt type
Choose quarter, half, three-quarter, full, one-and-a-half, or double circle. The circle fraction changes both fullness and waist radius; actual fabric use also depends on width and the number of panel rows. The fabric-planning guide explains why fullness alone does not determine yardage.
4. Review the preview
Use the SVG preview to check the waist opening, outer hem, and panel layout. Fix highlighted inputs before continuing. Open the printable HTML preview if you want a measurement summary; saving that page as PDF does not produce an actual-size tiled pattern.
If the result asks for manual layout, consult the Fabric Guide. It means one reserved quarter panel does not fit the available width, not that the skirt needs no fabric.
5. Save or print
Sign in with a free account and save the project. Open the saved project page, save any later edits, then choose Download full-scale pattern. Select A4 or US Letter and an output language, then choose Generate PDF. No paid plan is needed.
Print at 100% / actual size, with fit-to-page disabled. Measure the test square before printing all tiles, then assemble the pages using their labels and alignment marks. Follow the PDF printing guide: add waist and straight-edge joining seam allowances to the paper template before cutting fabric; the hem allowance is already included.
