Circle Skirt Calc Docs

Saved Projects

Save, reopen, duplicate, edit, and delete circle skirt drafts.

Saving a draft

Calculation and the HTML summary preview are free without an account. Sign in with a free account to save a draft from the calculator. Saved projects keep the measurements, skirt type, unit, fabric width, allowances, notes, and skirt color.

When browser storage is available, unsaved drafts stay on this device for up to seven days. Signing in from the calculator returns you to the draft for confirmation. Local recovery is separate from saving a project to your account; save before continuing on another device. If a saved project has changed since your local draft began, review the measurements before accepting those local changes.

If saving fails, check that you are signed in and that the required measurements are valid. The calculator input guide and Troubleshooting cover the first checks.

Reopening and editing

Open the projects area from your dashboard to continue a saved draft. Edit the measurements or color, then save the project again to update the stored version.

Existing projects retain their saved calculation snapshot until you explicitly update them. Recheck the current fabric estimate after saving changed measurements rather than assuming an older estimate used the same layout.

Use clear names for project versions when comparing fabric widths or skirt types.

Generate a full pattern PDF

Open the saved project page, save any pending edits, then choose Download full-scale pattern. Select A4 or US Letter and an output language, then choose Generate PDF. Full PDF export is free for saved projects and does not require a paid plan. An unsaved draft must be saved first.

The full PDF contains actual-size tiled pattern pages. The calculator's HTML preview, including a browser-saved PDF of that preview, is a measurement summary. Follow the PDF printing instructions: print at 100%, disable fit-to-page, measure the test square, and align the tile marks before cutting out the paper.

The printed waist curve and straight joining edges are seam lines and still need their respective allowances. The hem allowance is already included. Use the PDF checklist to verify the template before cutting fabric.

Waistband planning and saving

The public waistband tool gives independent construction advice. In a saved project, use Project waistband to save either a fitted waistband or an elastic waist. Only the selected construction is saved. These measurements do not automatically change the skirt opening.

Waistband edits have a separate local draft. You can restore it after returning to the project. If the saved waistband changed elsewhere, compare the saved version and your edits before choosing which to keep. Save or reset waistband edits before generating a PDF. Clearing the waistband keeps the skirt project.

The Materials checklist uses the saved skirt and waistband measurements. Copy it for fabric shopping; if automatic copying fails, select the provided text and copy it manually. Edits do not change the checklist until saved. Skirt fabric, waistband pieces, closures, shrinkage and pattern matching remain separate; unknown amounts are marked To confirm.

When a waistband is saved, a new full PDF adds Materials and cut dimensions after the existing pattern pages. A fitted waistband includes strip length and width; an elastic waist includes the measured elastic cut length and pull-on check, with casing fabric left to confirm. This is a dimension summary, not a full-size waistband pattern. Without a saved waistband, no summary page is added.

Each generated file keeps the skirt and waistband measurements used for that export. Editing later does not change an existing download. If another page changes the saved measurements during generation, review the refreshed project and generate again.

Find an earlier PDF

Open Export history from your workspace, account menu, or a project's More project actions. The project entry filters to that project; View all exports removes the filter. Load more retrieves the next page, and Refresh history returns to the first page to include new records.

Download links are available for completed files. An earlier PDF can differ from the current project; opening a historical download does not save edits or generate a new file. Older records without a saved name, language, page count or measurement snapshot show Not recorded rather than using current project data. Download requests do not confirm printing or cutting. Deleting a project also removes its export records and files; this page is not a permanent archive.

Making stages and fitting notes

Use Making progress in a saved project to record Planning, Printed, Cut, Sewing, or Finished. You can move to an earlier stage. These are your own records; downloading a PDF does not advance the stage or confirm a print or finished garment.

Save up to 2,000 characters of plain-text fitting notes separately from the skirt and waistband. Editing or saving notes keeps the saved pattern available. The notes do not enter the PDF. A draft stays on this device for seven days and is offered for deliberate restoration; if the record changed elsewhere, compare both versions before choosing. Keep my edits still requires a separate save.

Copying a project starts its making record at Planning with empty notes. Deleting a project also removes its saved making record.

Compare saved projects

Choose Choose projects to compare in the project list, select two different saved projects, then choose Compare selected projects. You need at least two saved projects. Unsaved edits are not included.

The page compares skirt type, waist and ease, skirt length, fabric width, radii, skirt fabric estimate and calculation version. Display units converts both sides to the same units; Swap sides changes their order. Neither action saves a project or generates a file.

Each result stays as originally saved. A historical result without a recorded calculation version is marked accordingly and is not upgraded with the current formula. Manual layout required means no automatic fabric estimate is available, not zero fabric. Read the saved warnings and layout guidance before choosing a plan.

Duplicating

Duplicate a project before trying a different fabric width, skirt length, or color. The duplicate starts from saved project inputs and the saved waistband preparation. Save local edits first if you want them copied.

Deleting

Delete drafts you no longer need from the project list. Deletion is intended for cleanup, so confirm you are removing the correct version before continuing.
