Circle Skirt Calc Docs

Calculator

Understand the measurements and options in the circle skirt calculator.

Measurement inputs

Open the circle skirt calculator to calculate without signing in. Enter the waist, waist ease, finished skirt length, joining seam allowance, hem allowance, and usable fabric width in the unit you prefer.

Keep construction allowances separate from body measurements. Waist ease increases the opening used for the radius calculation. Joining allowance reserves space in the fabric estimate but is not drawn outside the straight edges on the PDF. The printed inner waist curve is also a seam line; add the allowance for the waist finish toward its center. Hem allowance is already included in the outer radius. See the seam allowance guide before marking cutting lines.

For a pull-on skirt, use an opening that can pass over the hips, as described in the measurement guide, and fit the elastic separately.

Units

Use the unit switch to work in inches or centimeters. Existing values convert with the mode so you can compare a fabric label in one unit with body measurements in another.

After switching units, check the preview and highlighted inputs. If the preview cannot be drawn, one of the measurements is outside the workable range.

Simple and professional modes

Simple mode keeps the workflow focused on waist, length, skirt type, and fabric width. Use it for quick planning and beginner drafting.

Professional mode exposes more construction details, including allowances and layout constraints. Use it when preparing a real cutting plan.

Skirt color

The color picker changes the skirt preview and saved project color. It is a planning aid for comparing design options before fabric is purchased.

Fabric results and independent waistbands

The estimate reserves 90-degree panels in a flat, single-layer grid. It does not optimize nested shapes or account for directional prints, waistband pieces, closure pieces, shrinkage, or pattern matching. A manual-layout result means no reliable automatic length is available, not zero fabric. The Fabric Guide explains the limits; the fabric-planning example shows how width changes the row count.

The waistband calculator is independent advice. It does not automatically update the skirt opening or save its own inputs with a skirt project. Apply any opening change yourself.

Preview, save, and print

The HTML summary preview is free without an account. With a free account, save the draft as a project, then generate its complete A4 or US Letter PDF in English or Chinese from the saved project page. For actual-size paper templates, follow the 100% printing, test-square, and tile-assembly instructions; a browser-saved HTML preview is only a summary.
